Since this morning programming experts is it so denouncing a supposed hack at National Register of persons (RENAPER). Although it can be used normally on the official page, the problem lies in the database, that is, the computer system that stores all the sensitive data of registered Argentines: DAYS, cuil, card ID, among others.

The alarm went off when Javier Smaldone, a programmer and known for denouncing data leaks from various state entities, replied on Twitter an alarming screenshot, which shows a hacker offering to sell the data of the entire Argentine population through a dark web forum. As an example, he published the president’s data Alberto FernandezAlthough the user who reported the crime, who is a systems analyst, was careful to cover them up.

The screenshot is dated October 10, and says “I sell all the numbers of national identity documents (DNI) of any person in Argentina. This includes photo, names, surnames, addresses, processing number (this is very important), type of ID, code located behind the card (three-line barcode)”. Being something that experts are denouncing, this could mean a scandal at the country level, since anyone could create, for example, a fake credit card.

Javier Smaldone, in this regard, posted: “The same person who previously leaked the IOSFA data. The same one who walked around here taking photos of the RENAPER (and DNI processing numbers). But nothing happens, because Argentina ”. The programmer had already published, three days before, a thread denouncing the data breach. “Yesterday something happened that, unfortunately, is already repeated: an account appeared (already suspended) that began to tweet high resolution photos (most likely of RENAPER) and DNI processing numbers”

On September 27, Privacy Affairs, a communication media specialized in computing, published information on the violation of the IOSFA, the social work of the Armed Forces and Military Personnel. Lean Echevarría, cybersecurity expert and worker at Despegar, posted: “A few days ago @ mis2centavos was already talking about this leak. Today data continues to appear, and surely nobody does anything. This should at least be a country-level scandal ”.
