Tottenham Hotspur haven’t had much luck in the attacking department since Harry Kane became one of the world’s top scorers.

Since 2016, Spurs have signed Vincent Janssen, Fernando Llorente and Carlos Vinicius as replacement options for Kane.

But given that the three have scored a total of eight Premier League goals, it could be argued that none of them really did the job they were asked to do.

Back in 2015, HITC Sport reported that Tottenham were keen to sign Gerard Moreno and, in light of an announcement last week, they might regret not having him, the one who ran away.

That’s because the Villarreal shooter was included in the list of 30 candidates for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The 29-year-old, who was 23 at the time of the Lilywhites’ reported interest, scored a 30-goal season under Unai Emery last season, helping the Spaniards claim Europa League glory.

It was well known at the time of Moreno’s interest that Kane was set to become a world-class option up front, so Moreno would only have been a replacement for the England international.

But even still, his goals in Spain proved that he is one hell of a goalscorer and someone Mauricio Pochettino really could have done with.

It should be pointed out that this was the year when Pochettino’s side competed with Leicester City for the Premier League title and maybe, just maybe, the addition of the Spaniard to the squad would have- he was able to bring the Foxes closer together.
