The message that in the Novosibirsk region there was a fire at the “Levoberezhny” landfill turned out to be unreliable.

The edition on Thursday, October 7, citing local residents, reported heavy smoke on the territory of the “Levoberezhny” landfill in Novosibirsk. Unnamed interlocutors of the newspaper claim that the smoke is spreading through the surrounding area. At the same time, comments from official sources are not provided.

The news of the smoke is accompanied by footage posted on social media. At the same time, it is impossible to establish the exact place and source of the fire from the video.

In the comments to the publications about the smoke spreading in social networks, the official account of the Novosibirsk City Hall on VKontakte denied this information. In addition, on October 8, the edition published the news with comments from the authorities, refuting the information about the smoke at the landfill. The press service of the Novosibirsk mayor’s office, as reported by Novosibirskie Novosti, said that no fire had been recorded at the Levoberezhny test range on October 7. It is clarified that the source of smoke was on the land plot adjacent to the landfill with cadastral number 54: 19: 062302: 15, where unidentified persons store waste and burn the cable. In addition, the information on the source of the smoke was confirmed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations involved in extinguishing the fires. Information about the illegal dump was transferred to the administration of the Novosibirsk region and to the police.
