The South Korean Sungjae Im triumphs in the $ 7 million PGA tournament at the spectacular TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.
An outstanding final round with nine birdies secured the 23-year-old the second PGA success of his career at his 100th start in the world’s best-endowed tournament series.
After the 62 round on Sunday, Im (63 + 65 + 70 + 62) won with a total of 260 strokes (-24) and four strokes ahead of Matthew Wolff (USA / -20). Third place (-19) is shared by Marc Leishman (AUS), Rory Sabbatini (SVK) and Adam Schenk (USA).
The Korean Im collects $ 1.26 million in prize money for his success at the Shriners Children’s Open, moves up to second place in the US annual FedEx Cup ranking behind Sam Burns (USA) and improves from 29th place in the world rankings the 21st place.
The Austro-American Sepp Straka (71 + 75) missed the cut and slipped back from 159th place in the world rankings to 169th place. In the 41st week of the World Golf Ranking, Bernd Wiesberger improved by one place to 61st place after his 12th place in Spain, Mathias Schwab lost four places and appears on 140th place in the world rankings.
