Mexico City.- Almost a year and eight months after the detection of the first case of Covid-19 in MexicoIn the country there have been 282 thousand 86 deaths related to this disease and 3 million 940 thousand 170 infections, according to recent figures from the Ministry of Health.
During this weekend there were 128 recent deaths related to the coronavirus Sars-Cov-2, the cause of Covid-19, according to the covid report published this Sunday by the federal agency.
In the same report they detail the detection of 2,690 new cases of coronavirus, with which they add a historical accumulative of 3 million 723 thousand 235 infections.
According to the Johns Hopkins University count, Mexico is the fourth country with the most deaths from covid-19, only surpassed by the United States, Brazil and India. In contrast, it is the twelfth in confirmed infections.
For their part, the Mexican health authorities maintain that the third wave of COVID-19 infections that began three months ago has shown a downward trend in the last eight weeks.
Likewise, they recognize that the real number of deaths from the pandemic in the country could be around 410 thousand, taking into account the database of death certificates.
As for active cases, there are 43 thousand 381 of Covid-19 in Mexico. Most of these cases began to show symptoms in the last 14 days. While about 3 million 81 thousand 919 people recovered from this disease in the country.
Regarding hospital occupancy at the national level, it remains between 27 and 25 percent.
Progress in the vaccination plan
So far, the Ministry of Health has applied about 107, 15 million doses of vaccines against covid-19 to 66.32 million people over 18 years of age. In the last hours, they reported the inoculation of 423 thousand 652 citizens.
