TORREÓN, COAH.- The DIF Coahuila participates in the fight that the State Government undertakes against cancer, both in the preventive and detection phases, said the honorary president of the state agency, Marcela Gorgón.

He indicated that during October, Month of the Fight Against Cancer, the State DIF carries out 60 activities in coordination with the Municipal Systems to promote the timely detection of breast, cervical and prostate cancer.

“In addition, throughout the year we carry out activities within the framework of the programs ‘Join, Let’s Check Yourself’, and ‘With You in Cancer Care’, in which we bring the services of medical personnel to rural and urban communities,” he added .

These actions respect the health recommendations for the VOVID-19 contingency.

Marcela Gorgón pointed out that through the “Join, Let’s Check Yourself” program, more than 6,800 colposcopy, Human Papilloma Virus and papanicolaus studies have been carried out.

In addition, 3,708 breast examinations have been carried out, of which 3,542 have been channeled to free mammograms.

As far as prostate cancer is concerned, more than 4,400 prostate screening studies have been carried out.

Regarding prevention, the Honorary President reported that 332 prevention talks have been given, in which more than 6,900 people participated, and 410 brigades have been carried out that bring these exploration and timely detection services closer together.

“We also participated together with Governor Miguel Riquelme, the Ministry of Health and civil society organizations for the medical care of children with cancer,” he added.

Likewise, Marcela Gorgón pointed out that DIF Coahuila also supports women who fight against cancer.

He pointed out that 369 women who face this evil with courage have been assisted, and 478 supports have been granted to carry out studies and purchase medicines and training activities.
