Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Mikhail Alekseev told Izvestia when a new hundred-ruble note would appear in Russia. According to him, the banknote will be available only at the end of 2022.
“It will take us a decent amount of time – several months – for credit institutions to set up their counting and sorting machines, self-service devices, to put it simply, ATMs, for this new banknote. Therefore, we will have them in stock, but we will distribute them first among credit institutions for testing this equipment, ”Alekseev said.
He noted that the sketch of the bill has already been approved and it is planned to manufacture and put it into circulation in 2022. According to the Bank of Russia, in 2023-2025 there will be a gradual saturation of turnover with new hundred-ruble bills, and in 2026-2029 their share will noticeably increase.
In March, the department announced plans to issue updated banknotes with a new design of denominations of 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 rubles. The first one in circulation next year will be the hundred-ruble banknote. Its obverse will feature the symbols of Moscow – Red Square, Zaryadye, Shukhov Tower and the main building of Moscow State University.
Earlier, the head of the Khabarovsk Territory, Mikhail Degtyarev, said that the Image of Khabarovsk will remain on the five thousandth bill. According to him, the current design of banknotes will remain until 2030-2035. Such banknotes will be issued on a par with new ones, on which images of Yekaterinburg and the Urals Federal District will appear.
