The evening of October 9 was violent in Madrid, where numerous thefts were committed against young people, as hundreds of teenagers took part in a bottlegéant [pratique consistant à se rassembler en extérieur pour consommer de l’alcool] organized through Telegram and WhatsApp apps.
From the start of the afternoon, young people flocked to Parc del Oeste. Around 12:30 a.m., they had taken over the entire central area of the park and the many meadows and green spaces. Deployed in large numbers and in particular equipped with drones, the police then located several perpetrators of thefts in progress. In the early hours of the morning, many young people turned to the police for help after being assaulted. One stabbing and two sexual assaults were notably reported, reports the daily The world.
From the same source, most of those arrested for theft are of Moroccan or North African origin and are linked to gangs that steal young people gathered to drink. The assaults were carried out on young people who were separated from their groups or who were in meadows far from the main nucleus of thebottlegiant, where teenagers were dancing and drinking.
Clashes with the police
At around 4 a.m., riot police charged, using rubber bullets against dozens of young people who were still drinking and refusing to leave Parc del Oeste.
