Lavrov announced a bias against Russian vaccines

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told why there is no agreement between Russia and the European Union on the mutual recognition of vaccines against coronavirus. He believes that there are a number of reasons for this, the main of which is a bias towards Russian drugs, Izvestia reports.

He recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin has long called for the abandonment of patent protection in order to ensure a more effective fight against infection. “Our position has not changed, but other countries have not shared it. We have been negotiating the mutual recognition of certificates for a long time. There are various reasons. Both objective, but also prejudiced against Russian vaccines for political reasons. But we see interest, ”the diplomat said.

Earlier, the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin expects that the result of negotiations between Russia and the European Union on the mutual recognition of certificates of vaccination against COVID-19 will appear soon. According to him, currently work on this issue is being carried out in a constructive manner.
