The executive director of International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, is in the crosshairs of the multilateral organization and could leave his position in the coming days, after being denounced as favoring China in the Doing Business 2018 report of the World Bank (WB). At that time, Georgieva was CEO of the World Bank. Therefore, the country is “concerned” about the future of the Bulgarian. In this regard, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, gave his opinion on the future of talks between the IMF and the Argentina.
In dialogue with Radio 10, Massa assured that “Argentina’s position should not be modified beyond some internal tension that a multilateral organization may have. [Las tensiones] they have to do with people’s situations and not with the position of Argentina ”, he added. In this context, he stressed that they are looking for “an agreement that Argentina can fulfill and pay for growing, and not shrink and deceive ourselves by making a pact that will put us in the same situation as today in three, four or five years.”
Likewise, he stated: “If the private holders made that effort, it is logical and presumably that the multilateral credit institutions have the intelligence to give them a better term, a lower rate and a different situation with respect to the capital’s view of countries that are debtor of the multilaterals.” He added: “Argentina has shown a willingness to pay and intends that the agreement to be signed is based on its ability to pay with the institution, with the Fund’s board of directors; it is not with people ”.
In relation to what happened in the last session in the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation, he said that “there are issues [por la Ley de Etiquetado Frontal] that we have to learn to remove them from the electoral discussion and to work them together without implying giving in in terms of the ideas or the electorate that one represents ”. In turn, he denied that all the latest measures have a proselytizing purpose: “The government is obliged to reactivate the engines of the economy and the recovery of income.”
And he added: “There is learning from the message of the ballot box, which in some way has to serve us as a mark, correct mistakes and move forward, without raising dramatic questions. When people speak to you with the vote, something tells you; and that something you have to transform into government actions ”. In this way, the president of the Chamber of Deputies rejected that the latest economic announcements had the objective of reversing the result of PASO 2021, where the Frente de Todos lost in 17 of the 24 jurisdictions in the country.
