A few hours before attending Bernard Tapie’s funeral, one of his lawyers had his valuable watch stolen during an assault in the middle of the street.
On October 3, Bernard Tapie joined the other world. After a long battle with esophageal and stomach cancer. the former businessman surrendered his soul at the age of 79. A disappearance that moved the French, many to pay tribute to the former owner of theOlympic Marseille.
Two days after a tribute paid to Paris, in the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, “the boss” was entitled to a new mass organized in Marseille, in the cathedral of Sainte Marie-Majeure. Shortly before his death, the native of the 20th arrondissement of Paris had told journalist Hervé Gattegno that he did not want to be buried elsewhere than in the Phocaean city :

A city of heart
After making a fortune as an entrepreneur in the 70s, Bernard Tapie bought theOlympic Marseille in 1986 for a symbolic franc. The club had not won titles for ten years and then stagnated in fifteenth place in the French championship. But the businessman obviously had flair.
Because under his leadership, theIF launched the careers of many young hopefuls who will become stars. Like Jean-Pierre Papin, Basile Boli, Fabien Barthez or even Didier Deschamps.
This Thursday, October 7, many of them said goodbye to the one who had won the Champions League in 1993 at the Marseille club. His children, Laurent, Stéphane, Nathalie and Sophie Tapie were obviously present. In addition to celebrities like Basile Boli or politician Jean-Louis Borlooo, who carried the coffin of their late friend.
But if the ceremony went off without the slightest incident, one of his lawyers experienced an unfortunate mishap shortly before the funeral.
A bad encounter
According to information from theAFP, one of Bernard Tapie’s lawyers was assaulted on his way back to his hotel, located near the Old Port. Taken to task by two men on the evening of October 7, the lawyer would have had a watch of great value stolen, the price of which is estimated at 35,000 euros.
An assault that occurred only hours before he went to his late client’s funeral.
The case is currently in the hands of justice.
