Formula 1 classification: race of the GP of Turkey and world F1 2021

Max Verstappen recovers the leadership in the classification of Formula 1 World Cup after his second place in the Turkish GP. The Dutchman now leads by 6 points to a Lewis Hamilton he started eleventh, after having changed engines, and finished fifth in Istanbul. The victory went to Valtteri Bottas, his partner in Mercedes; while Sergio perez, Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate, took the podium as third.

He was chosen as pilot of the day Carlos Sainz, who starred in a comeback even more spectacular than Hamilton’s. Although the Madrilenian climbed ten positions in the 2020 Turkish GP, in this edition there have been eleven positions that he has won. Carlos Sainz started nineteenth and finished eighth in Istanbul.

Fernando AlonsoFor his part, he started fifth in Turkey, his best position since the 2014 Japanese GP. Unfortunately for him, he was rammed by Pierre Gasly at the start, which relegated him to the back of the grid. The Frenchman was suspended with five seconds and Fernando Alonso could only be sixteenth.

As far as the classification of the Constructors’ World Cup is concerned. Mercedes stays in front with 36 points advantage over Red Bull. Ferrari, meanwhile, cuts distance on McLaren. Those of Maranello are now 7.5 points of the British team, which maintains the third position in the classification of the Constructors’ World Cup.
