Fewer deaths and fewer infections in week 93 of the Covid

Week 93 of the Covid-19 in Panama ended with 29 deaths (1 less than the previous week) and 1,343 cases (219 less). There were 3.3% fewer deaths and 14% fewer infections.

From October 4 to 10, there were an average of 4.14 deaths per day and 191.8 infections. Throughout the week the positivity was 3.01%. and 47,173 tests were carried out (2,487 more).

The epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health of Panama (Minsa) highlights that yesterday 119 new cases were detected, raising the accumulated infections to 469,082.

In addition, there were three deaths, which increased to 7,267 deaths throughout the pandemic.

There are 2,605 active cases and of those 2,283 people are in home isolation and 106 in hotels.

Regarding hospitalized patients, there are 174 in wards and another 42 in intensive care units.

In the last hours the authorities applied some 4,103 new tests, which yielded a positivity of 2.9%.

As of yesterday, 5,623,846 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been applied. Of this total, 750,730 doses from AstraZeneca and 4,872,720 from Pfizer have been placed.

It was also reported that since the Tocumen Airport began its operations in October 2020, 1,851 positive passengers have been detected and 222,212 tests have been carried out in this air terminal.
