A 29-year-old man died this Sunday after suffering an accident and falling into the sea in the vicinity of the lighthouse on the coast of Teno, within the municipality of Buenavista del Norte, as reported by the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The event occurred around 6:10 p.m., when 112 received the alert in which it was reported that one person had fallen into the sea and two others had jumped into the water to help them.
The occupants of a fishing boat that was in the area, who came to help after being warned of what was happening by one of the alerters following instructions from the operating room, rescued the three affected from the water and took them to shore . After verifying that one of them was in cardiorespiratory arrest, people who were in place began to carry out resuscitation maneuvers, which the rescuers of the GES helicopter continued to practice in the area and while they evacuated him in the aircraft to the surface of La Guancha .
Once on land, personnel from a medicalized ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) found that the affected person, who had suffered an accident with a fishing utensil before falling into the water, remained in cardiorespiratory arrest and performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers without obtain result, confirming his death. Another of the rescued people was assisted on the beach of Teno by the personnel of a sanitarized ambulance.
The Canary Islands Emergency Service also activated the Group for Psychological Intervention in Emergencies and Catastrophes of the Official College of Psychology of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
