Russia cancels mass events, due to Covid pandemic

Anna Popova, head of the Federal Surveillance Service for the Protection of Consumer Rights and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor), announced on October 4, quoted by the agency RIA Novosti, that Russia had suspended the events bringing together more than 3,000 people across the country because of the many identified cases of Covid-19.

“Mass gatherings have been stopped across the country,” she said, adding that the measure concerned events involving more than 3,000 people. She added that only two regions could continue to organize gatherings of 1,000 to 3,000 people.

In addition, taken over by the agency TASS, Anna Popova explained that the health situation in Russia was extremely tense. She put forward an incidence rate of 20% or more in twelve regions of Russia. According to her, the incidence rate of Covid-19 in Russia has increased in 67 regions.

For his part, Alexeï Kuznetsov, Deputy Minister of Health, said, quoted by the agency TASS, that more than 950,000 people were currently receiving medical care after being infected with Covid-19.
