Vienna – Monday, October 4th, 2021, 4:09 p.m.
Another racist incident occurred in the Italian Serie A.
Defender Kalidou Koulibaly from SSC Napoli was insulted by the opposing fans in the 2-1 win against Fiorentina. “These people have no place in sport. They should be identified and forever removed from the stadiums,” the Senegalese wrote on Instagram on Monday.
In addition to Koulibaly, two other dark-skinned Napoli players are said to have been racially insulted. Already on Sunday evening, Fiorentina apologized to the 30-year-old. The Mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, apologized on behalf of the city. The association announced on Monday that it would provide the police with all the footage from the surveillance cameras for tracking the perpetrators.
Other clubs like Milan showed solidarity with Koulibaly. “Racism must have no place in society,” wrote the Milanese – in the series in second place behind Napoli – on Twitter. The Italian Football Association (FIGC) initiated proceedings after a report from its employees and a conversation with Koulibaly. Recently there had been more racist scandal in Serie A, for example in the match between Milan and Lazio last month
