Leading US multinational corporations have developed a covert strategy to counter Biden’s massive economic bill. The measures to prevent the climate crisis, proposed by the US President, provide for higher taxes for businesses, writes The Guardian.

Influential business associations, which include the leaders of Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Disney, and many other large American companies, intend through lobby groups to secretly obstruct the approval of the climate section of the new economic plan “in every possible way,” The Washington Post reported. According to lobbying organizations, the restrictions spelled out in the draft law are ineffective and harmful to the market, but open opposition can damage the “green” image of companies. The corporations say they are ready to pursue an independent policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create environmentally friendly production.

If adopted, the project under consideration will become the largest climate law in the last 10 years. It will create a system for the phase-out of carbon emissions from the US electricity system, reduce subsidies for combustible fuels, provide payments to support carbon-free nuclear power and the introduction of electric vehicles.

The $ 3.5 trillion comprehensive reform package has already sparked public debate and controversy in the US Congress, including among members of the President’s Democratic Party.
