The defense of the federal deputy Daniel Silveira (SPL) has submitted a new application for habeas corpus for the release of the parliamentarian on Saturday 2. The politician has been imprisoned since June 24, following a decision by the minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), by the deputy having violated rules imposed for house arrest. Silveira was initially arrested in February for releasing a video with attacks on Supreme Court justices. In the new request for habeas corpus, addressed to the president of the STF, Luiz Fux, the lawyers allege that the deputy is a victim of illegal harassment and claim that the period of 90 days after his arrest has expired, which should motivate a new analysis of the case by the courts. In the document, the defense also says that keeping the congressman in prison is “abusive and undignified”, making it illegal and embarrassing.
