Freiburg – Monday, October 4th, 2021, 10:50 am
Philipp Lienhart is traveling to the national team’s October training course with a broad chest.
With SC Freiburg, the 25-year-old Lilienfelder forms the surprise team of the still young Bundesliga season. Lienhart was on the field for 90 minutes in seven games and did not suffer a single bankruptcy with four wins and three draws. As a reward, Freiburg ranks fourth in the table behind FC Bayern, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund. Only one point is missing at the top.
In the latest 2-1 away win at Hertha BSC, Lienhart set the course for victory with his first goal of the season. The ex-Rapid and Real kicker was awarded a grade of 2 by the specialist soccer magazine “Kicker” and was nominated for the “Elf of the Day” for the first time this season.
“Done his core defensive business with reliability and calm – and set the course with his head with the opening goal: Philipp Lienhart was one of Freiburg’s guarantors of victory,” was the positive verdict.
