The whole of tennis Austria is still waiting for Dominic Thiem’s decision regarding a possible operation on his injured wrist.

The 28-year-old from Lower Austria had originally announced that he would undergo a stress test on Monday, October 4th and then announce the decision about a possible intervention.

When he will announce the result of this test is still open. On Monday afternoon, “Kosmos”, the Spanish management company with which Thiem has been under contract since June, announced that he would speak about his decision at a press conference next Monday.

“Dominic will, however, publish his decision on his social media channels before that,” said the Spanish press officer when asked by LAOLA1. However, she cannot yet say when this will be exactly. But “definitely before next Monday.”

Without an operation, Thiem could start training again in November in order to be able to make his comeback at the Australian Open in mid-January. If Thiem had to go under the knife, he could not start training again until February or March 2022.

Thiem contracted the injury in Mallorca in June. Since then, the former world number three has been on pause.
