Deontay Wilder insisted he wasn’t surprised by Oleksandr Usyk beating Anthony Joshua.

Britain’s unified heavyweight champion was knocked out and dethroned by the Ukrainian, who put in a magnificent performance to make history at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Usyk’s speed, movement and precision troubled AJ all night.

Joshua had moments of success throughout the fight, but couldn’t keep it up long enough to come out victorious.

Usyk eventually outclassed Joshua and made him stand on the last lap, the bell saving AJ from being knocked out.

The scores were 117-112, 116-112, 115-113, crowning Usyk a two-division world king as the former cruiserweight champion claimed the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles.

When asked if he was surprised with the result, Wilder told BT Sport: “I wasn’t at all, I wasn’t at all.

“Malik Scott always talks about Usyk and his talent. Mostly coming from cruiserweight.

“He definitely struggled in the heavyweight division with Chazz Witherspoon and Derek Chisora.

“But styles make fights and with Joshua he just had his number at that point.”
