Santa Fe Guillermo “Mago” Coria was officially appointed today as Argentine captain for the Davis Cup replacing Gastón Gaudio, reported the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT).
Coria, winner of new ATP titles and finalist at Roland Garros 2004, will maintain the base of the coaching staff that accompanied Gaudio during the last three years and will incorporate Martín García – he reached the 21st position in the professional doubles ranking.
“I am very happy, it is a dream come true and I hope to be able to take advantage of this enormous opportunity and responsibility that the authorities of the Argentine Tennis Association gave me. I am very confident that we will win the next series to return the Argentine team to the Davis Cup Finals, “declared the Magician.
Coria will be officially unveiled this Tuesday and will give a press conference at the Harrods Gath & Chaves Club.
