Last night at Camino Centenario and 504, in Gonnet, a group of delivery men caught and beat up a young man who they accused of trying to steal the cell phone from a motorcyclist who was about to carry out a delivery service and that when he could not achieve his objective ended up setting fire to a motorbike belonging to another delivery girl.
According to witnesses, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. in front of a McDonalds branch when a delivery man was surprised by a man who tried to steal his cell phone. However, when he met resistance from the victim, he went to the motorcycle parked in front of the fast food place, which belonged to another delivery girl, and cut the fuel hose and set it on fire.
“He went crazy,” said the witness regarding the attitude of the accused after not being able to get hold of the cell phone.
After the subject’s attitude, the delivery men who were in the premises learned of what happened and went after him. They caught him at 505 and 10, where they reduced him and gave him several blows. The offender was reportedly detained by the police and subsequently referred to a hospital for medical attention for the beatings he received.
A complainant stated that “as a delivery man I am tired of this, that these filthy rats want to steal our work tools: motorcycles, money and cell phones.”
On the other hand, he affirmed that “Gonnet is a liberated area, the police never do anything, they stay on the corners drinking mate and fooling around with the phone.”
“What annoyed me the most is that the policemen took out the shotguns and told us that if we left there they were going to shoot us,” he said.
