In the US state of California, participants in a military training course were surprised by an armed man. The attacker was armed with a Japanese sword. In order to get out of danger, the members of the army barricaded themselves in a hangar.
A bizarre incident caused a sensation in the US media. An armed man attacked a group of special forces who were undergoing military training at an airport in the state of California. The attack occurred in mid-September. However, the details did not become public until early October.
According to the official US Department of Defense newspaper Stars and Stripes On the night of September 18, a man penetrated the territory of Inyokern Airport, 100 miles from Los Angeles, and used his katana to attack a soldier who was smoking in front of an administrative building. The sergeant fled into the building and locked himself there with a captain. The attacker, who was reportedly disguised as a ninja, continued to hit the door. Ultimately, he threw a large piece of asphalt into a window and met the captain.
The Ridgecrest Police Department confirmed two emergency calls 30 minutes apart. In the first, the police were informed about a man armed with a sword and at least one injured person. The second talked about 26 special forces “who had barricaded themselves in a hangar and were wondering where help was”.
The Kern County Sheriff’s office later reported the perpetrator’s arrest on Facebook. This one was identified as Gino Rivera. The 35-year-old refused to obey the officers who had arrived at the scene and began to swing his sword. The police arrested the attacker nonetheless by incapacitating him with a stun gun. The injured received medical attention at a local hospital.
