Roy Keane took another blow to Kyle Walker, saying the way the Manchester City defender plays “irritates” him.

The Manchester United legend has been criticized for his criticism of Walker, who awarded a penalty in City’s Premier League home clash against Liverpool last season.

Keane was more measured in his review of Walker this time around

When asked how Sadio Mane earned a penalty for Liverpool, Keane told Sky Sports last November: “Because he’s up against an idiot.

“Kyle Walker, people tell me he’s playing well, I don’t think so. This guy is 30 years old, an international player, it’s a car accident.

“He keeps making these kinds of mistakes. He was rightly punished for it.

Walker played the full 90 minutes of City’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Sunday and Keane appeared to express remorse at the level of criticism he had previously leveled at the English man.

Walker has started six of seven Premier League appearances for Man City this quarter

However, Keane still doesn’t believe the three-time Premier League winner is the finished article.

Keane told Sky Sports, according to The Sun, “I’ve criticized him in the past.

“He’s making too many mistakes and relying on his pace to get out of this mess, but he’s had a very good career. I can be quite critical with defenders, especially when it’s a head job.

“That’s what irritates me, the focus – but a great player for Man City and England, so the kid is doing something right.”

Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher, who often played at right-back, took Walker’s defense.

Carragher said: “You talk about his pace of recovery for the team.

“Man City have a lot of the ball and he’s brilliant. Sometimes he doesn’t even fly forward, he just plays as a center-back if someone’s against them.

“I think what Roy is talking about is because he’s so blessed physically that you can lose your focus and actually be there for the team, but it gets him out of trouble.

“But I like him, he’s a fantastic player, he’s England right-back.

“Man City and Pep Guardiola can buy any right-back in the world and they picked Kyle Walker, brought in Joao Cancelo but still play him in every game.

“Anytime you think of your team and you have someone with afterburners like that, it can get him and his team out of trouble as well.”
