Photo finish after sprint with three in juniors: Segaert 2nd in Roubaix

Our compatriot Alec Segaert just missed the win in Paris-Roubaix in the juniors. The 18-year-old Belgian, 1st at the European Time Trial Championships and 3rd at the World Time Trial Championships, sprinted to 2nd place in an elite group of 3 riders. Norwegian Simon Edvardsen-Fredheim won after a photo finish, his compatriot and world champion Per Strand Hagenes was third.

The juniors had to work in the same conditions as the pros, although the 5-star strip of Mons-en-Pévèle was deleted. After 111 km, a pressing sprint on the cycling track in Roubaix decided.

The three of them raced for the finish line, Edvardsen-Fredheim’s jump was the best.

The previous winner, in 2019, was the Dutchman Hidde van Veenendaal. The last Belgian junior to win was Jasper Stuyven in 2010.
