Afghan media reported an explosion and subsequent shooting near a mosque in the capital, Kabul. According to preliminary information, fighters from the “Islamic State Khorasan” group are believed to be behind the terrorist attack.

An explosion hit the Afghan capital Kabul on Sunday. The attack occurred near the Id-Gah mosque, where a mourning ceremony for the mother of Taliban spokesman Sabihullah Mujahid was taking place. Immediately after the explosion, according to media reports, there was an exchange of fire between Taliban forces and the attackers in front of the second largest mosque in Kabul. Although no one initially declared themselves responsible for the attack, the terrorist group “Islamic State Khorasan” was suspected to be behind it. Initially, some civilians were reported dead. Some media wrote of at least ten fatalities. Several Taliban leaders reportedly attended the memorial service.

According to recent reports, there are said to have been twelve dead and over 20 injured.

Shortly before, the Taliban held a rally in Kabul to celebrate their victory in Afghanistan. However, not many people attended the event. It was reported by approximately 1,500 participants. There were no women among them. What was remarkable about the event on Sunday was that it was the first rally after the Taliban came to power.
