Julio Iglesias turned out to be a defendant in "Pandora's dossier"

Spanish singer Julio Iglesias was involved in a large-scale investigation by the international consortium of journalists (ICIJ) “Pandora papers”. According to El Pais, the performer has opened at least 20 companies in the British Virgin Islands and through some of them acquired a plane and luxury homes in Miami.

It is clarified that the current value of the acquired housing on Indian Creek Island, also known as the “bunker for the rich”, is $ 112 million (over 8.1 billion rubles).

Earlier it was reported that the “Pandora dossier” revealed the connection between singer Shakira and supermodel Claudia Schiffer with offshore assets. In 2019, Shakira appeared in court for tax evasion in Spain. At the same time, according to the ICIJ report, while the Spanish police were investigating the perpetrator’s offenses, she was registering new offshore companies in the British Virgin Islands.

On Sunday, October 3, ICIJ investigators uncovered offshore deals of more than 100 billionaires, 35 world leaders and 400 government officials. Journalists call the incident the largest offshore data leak in history. The dossier includes reports from over 600 journalists from 117 countries. They analyzed data from more than 11.9 million files received due to the leak.

Later, a representative of the ICIJ, based in Washington, said that new “big” names may appear in the “Pandora dossier”. The appearance of new names in the investigation, including world leaders and high-ranking officials, is not excluded in the coming days. In total, journalists study 12 million documents that came into their possession.
