Futsal World Cup: the remarkable gesture of DT Lucuix at the award ceremony

The coach of the Argentine futsal team, Matías Lucuix, gave his medal to Lucas Trípodi, one of the best players on the team who was left out of the World Cup due to a serious injury.

At the award ceremony, the Albiceleste coach had a great gesture with Trípodi, who traveled from Madrid, Spain, to accompany the team in the final in Kaunas, Lithuania, which ended with Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Argentina.

Lucuix brought Trípodi on stage and as Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, distributed the silver medals, he took his own and gave it to Trípodi.

“Lucas is a very special person. He had the misfortune of the injury and we miss him a lot. I felt that way, it came from my heart because he is part of us. It made me sad that he missed the World Cup and I thought he deserved it,” he said. Lucuix at the press conference.

The left-handed Trípodi is one of the best Argentine futsal players and represents Inter Movistar, the most winning team in Spain.

At the end of May, Trípodi suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and missed the chance to play his first World Cup.
