An Italian judge will decide today whether to deliver the fugitive Puigdemont to Spain. The former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont has landed this Sunday towards 9:00 am in Sardinia (Italy) to appear before the Italian justice, as they have informed sources of the Office of the ex-president.
The head of his Office has also traveled to Sardinia; Josep Lluís Alaand; his lawyer, Gonzalo Boye, and the former councilors of the Generalitat Clara Ponsatí and Toni Comín.
Puigdemont returns to Italy a week after his arrest and release in L’Alguer (Sardinia) to testify this Monday before the Sardinian court, which is studying the extradition request sent by the magistrate of the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court (TS) Pablo Llarena.
The former president’s Italian lawyer, Agostinangelo MarrasHe said this Saturday that “all the elements” are currently in place so that the Euroorder is not executed and that, from the procedural point of view, it would be an unfounded decision, he has said verbatim.
After the hearing on Monday, the judge must decide whether to hand him over to the Spanish authorities, something that Marras considers “that at the procedural level it would be an unfounded and unfair decision.”
The former president is scheduled to meet with his legal team this Sunday to prepare for Monday’s appearance at the Sassari Court of Appeal, which has to decide whether to activate the extraction procedure against him as requested by Supreme Court magistrate Pablo Llarena.
