The Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, stated this Monday, 20, that adverse events to the vaccine against the Covid-19 they exist, but they are not a reason to suspend the immunization. “We had an adverse event and, as a health authority, it is up to me to assess them. These adverse events to the vaccine exist and are not a reason to suspend the vaccination campaign or to relativize its benefits. The health authority has to evaluate these cases, even to make the proper notifications”, declared Queiroga as he left the hotel where he is staying in New York. The minister was asked about the case of a teenager who died after being immunized. The government of São Paulo, however, has already announced that the death is not related to the vaccine, but with an autoimmune disease. Queiroga stated that the case should be evaluated under the Ministry of Health. “Now, even if it was an adverse event linked to the vaccine, it does not invalidate the vaccination. What the government has defended, since note 36, is that teenagers should come later. We need to advance in those above 18 years old. It is a matter of priority and logistics”, he declared.
