There are only a few months until the arrival in cinemas of the new Guillermo del Toro and finally we have the first trailer for Nightmare Alley, his first film after taking the Oscar for Best Director for The water shape.
Based on Nightmare Alley (1946), by William Lindsay Gresham, the film focuses on an ambitious young mentalist (Cooper) with a great talent for manipulating people through words. One day he connects with a medium (Blanchett) who is even more dangerous than him.
The sordid story immerses us in the world of the American circus show of the 1940s and introduces us to a handful of very particular characters, members of a carnival full of con artists, charlatans and fatal women who will remind us of the atmosphere of film noir.
This first trailer for Nightmare Alley undoubtedly exploits one of the many attractions of Guillermo del Toro’s new film: its cast that includes Bradley Cooper – who replaced Leonardo DiCaprio – (Stanton ‘Stan’ Carlisle), Cate Blanchett (Lilith Ritter), Ron Perlman (Bruno ), Rooney Mara (Molly), Willem Dafoe (Clem Hoately), Paul Anderson, Holt McCallany (Anderson), Toni Collette (Zeena Krumbein), Richard Jenkins (Ezra Grindle), David Strathairn (Pete Krumbein), Mary Steenburgen (Miss Harrington ) and Tim Blake Nelson (Carny Boss), among others.
