The block coordinator, Catarina Martins, this Thursday accused the PS of being “whistling aside” about the increase in the price of electricity, criticizing “the ridiculous right” for wanting to hold parliamentary hearings only after the bill had already risen. .
At the rally for the campaign for local elections on September 26, which took place tonight in Torres Novas, in the district of Santarém, Catarina Martins brought up the issue of electricity prices, a day after it was known that this bill is going to increase again for families in the regulated market from October.
Now, for example, that the country is discussing the increase of energy in one of the countries where energy is already the most expensive in Europe when taking into account the purchasing power, they know that the Left Bloc is the only party that affronts always the ‘lobby’ of electric companies, which has already presented concrete proposals to end the privilege of electric companies and lower the electricity bill in the country”, he defended.
This position of BE contrasts, in Catarina Martins’ opinion, with a PS that “whistles to the side and is not even able to implement in Portugal the measures that the government in Spain, next door, is already implementing”.
And well, the ridiculous right has decided that it doesn’t know what to do and is going to hold some auditions there in October, after the price of electricity has already increased”, criticized.
At BE, according to Catarina Martins, “those who are here will not turn their face to the problems, they are not intimidated by the greats of economic power and will never forget that their role and mission is to defend these working people”.
Ten days ago, at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Lisbon, the blocist leader had already challenged the government to take urgent measures to curb the “time bomb” in the price of electricity, proposing to change the remuneration of dams to eliminate “profits abusive” and put an end to the “wind jackpot” created by Passos Coelho.
On Thursday afternoon, it was learned that the price of electricity will increase again, as of October 1st, with the Regulatory Authority for Energy Services (ERSE) determining an increase of 1.05 euros per month for the majority of consumers in the regulated market.
