Aragonés y Sánchez, el pasado 7 de junio en Barcelona.

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, lead at 3:00 p.m. in Barcelona the restart of the dialogue table on Catalonia, an appointment that has caused a great crisis among the partners of the Government.

From Moncloa they hope to lay the foundations for a negotiation that is sustained over time. The position of the Goverm of the Generalitat has been weakened by the absence of JuntsxCat, and the truth is that they do not expect to reach large agreements after this meeting.

After Sánchez cleared up the question on Monday about his attendance or not at the meeting, the movements regarding the composition of the delegation of the Government of the Generalitat that should participate in it led to a tug of war between ERC and Junts per Catalunya.

This last formation tried to have two pardoned prisoners (Jordi Sànchez and Jordi Turull) and their spokesperson in Congress, Míriam Nogueras, come to the table on their behalf. But Aragonès vetoed the three for not being part of the Government and JxCat refused to withdraw the names while blaming the “censorship” on Moncloa.

The Government of Sánchez, through its spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, aligned itself with the president’s argument that the dialogue table should be exclusively between members of the two executives and assured that it would not have accepted people outside the Government. “The framework has always been that of working delegations from both governments; we have not contemplated another framework,” he said.

Sánchez and six ministers

Accordingly, the Executive delegation will be headed by Sánchez and will be made up of six ministers: Presidency, Félix Bolaños (coordinator of the group); the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz; Territorial Policy and spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez; Transport, Raquel Sánchez; Culture, Miquel Iceta; and Universities, Manuel Castells.

On the part of the Generalitat, in the face of JxCat’s refusal to rectify its proposal, only Aragonès, and two ERC councilors, Laura Vilagrà and Roger Torrent will be there.

This is how the meeting will be

Before the meeting of the delegations in the Palace of the Generalitat there will be a meeting of the two presidents at the end of which there will be statements before the media, first by Sánchez and then by Aragonès.

Both will then preside over the beginning of the meeting to leave it later and leave the development of the work to their respective representatives.
