The Russians were named a way to identify severe postcoid syndrome in the eyes

Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor of the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University (USA) Ancha Baranova called the Russians a way to identify severe postcoid syndrome in the eyes. She described it in her Telegram channel.

“If you suffer from post-covid, which, by the way, has already been recognized as a reason for disability in the United States, the key to the official diagnosis does not lie with the therapist, and certainly not with the psychiatrist, but, as it turned out, with the eye doctor,” the biologist noted.

According to her, scientists from Turkey and Qatar have discovered a new method for diagnosing postcoid complications – using confocal microscopy of the cornea of the eye, they reveal the initial signs of damage to the optic nerve, which, in turn, indicate hypoxia characteristic of patients after coronavirus.

“Care on the part of an ophthalmologist and drops feeding the cornea and retina on the postovid will not harm. And the fact that it seems to you that after recovery, for some reason, your eyesight has fallen – perhaps it does not seem, but requires a detailed check, “Baranova said.

She also noted that a decrease in the density of nerve fibers is also observed in diabetic patients who are prone to keratopathy – a disease of the cornea associated with the deposition of calcium in the eyes. However, such processes in patients occur due to sugar.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor said that postcoid syndrome is observed in about a third of those who have undergone coronavirus. It includes various complications in the form of thrombosis. 31.7 percent have shortness of breath, 13.5 percent have a cough, another 12.7 percent complain of chest pain and tachycardia.
