The largest distributor of child pornography received 27 years in prison

An American court sentenced to 27 years in prison the Irishman Eric Owen Marquez, whom the FBI called the largest intermediary in the distribution of child pornography around the world. The Irish Times newspaper reports about it.

According to investigators, in 2008 Marquez founded Freedom Hosting, which provided hosting for “hidden” services that could be accessed through the Tor network. They allowed users to anonymously access millions of illegal photos and videos depicting sexual acts with minors, including the process of rape and torture of infants and young children.

Marquez was arrested in Ireland in 2013 and was extradited to the US authorities at the request of a US court. The attacker has pleaded guilty to using the web host. By a court order, he will be credited with time spent in custody in Ireland and the United States. The total term of imprisonment was 27 years.

In May, it was reported that UK-based platform OnlyFans was a hotbed of child pornography. The creators of the service were accused of the fact that minors can easily publish and sell their nude photos and videos on the platform.
