Former President of the Russian aircraft developer company Sukhoi SuperJet 100 JSC “Sukhoi Civil Aircraft” (SCAC) Alexander Rubtsov has been put on the international wanted list. This was reported by Kommersant.
As the newspaper notes, in the near future police officers from other countries participating in Interpol may join in the search.
The businessman, accused of major abuse of power, was arrested in absentia two months ago. According to the investigation, while being the head of the leasing company AO Ilyushin Finance Co (IFC), Rubtsov “leased” 14 premium cars to it for seven and a half years. At the same time, the cars belonged to the head of the SCAC himself, his relatives and close employees. In total, the maintenance of the vehicle fleet cost IFC 18 million rubles.
In the spring of 2019, Rubtsov left all his posts, and in December 2020 he flew away for urgent treatment in Latvia. The defendant’s lawyers insist that he is not hiding from the investigation, and left for the Baltic states before the initiation of the case. Now the ex-head of the SCAC lives and works abroad. Human rights activists also insist that the criminal prosecution was initiated by Rubtsov’s former colleagues in the IFC, who had a “personal dislike” for him.
