Simone Biles testified in front of the United States Congress for the cases of abuse in the gymnastics equipment

American gymnast Simone Biles testified this Wednesday in the United States Senate on the abuses perpetrated by Larry Nassar, who was a doctor for the national gymnastics team.

“I don’t want any other young Olympian or individual to suffer the horror that I and that hundreds of others have endured and continue to endure to this day.”said Biles, visibly moved, before the Senate judicial committee.

The former doctor of the American Olympic gymnastics team was sentenced to between 40 and 175 years in prison for having sexually abused dozens of athletes during their twenties in which he served as a specialist in the United States Gymnastics Federation

The Senate committee was formed to investigate why the FBI office in Indianapolis – where the Federation of Gymnastics is based – responded inadequately and slowly to the first allegations of sexual abuse against Nassar, allowing the former doctor to continue to commit abuse. .

Nassar was also a physician at Michigan State University, whose authorities, according to numerous testimonies, were aware of the allegations but did not act on it.

Biles was one of the complainants who gave testimony during the trial, as do Olympic champion Aly Raisman, Jordyn Wieber, McKayla Maroney, and Jamie Dantzscher.
