In the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested two recruits from the terrorist organization for monotheism and jihad. The terrorists are said to have come to Russia from Central Asia.
The Russian Federal Service for Security (FSB) has arrested two recruiters from the terrorist organization Jama’at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. From the press service of the regional FSB department it was said:
“Two citizens of one of the republics of the Central Asian region have come to the regional capital to spread the terrorist ideology.”
In August the FSB arrested more than 30 members of the Jama’at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad. According to the press service, these were both simple recruited members and group leaders. The operation took place in Moscow and in cities in Siberia and the Russian Far East.
Jama’at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad, organization for monotheism and jihad, was founded in Jordan in 1999 to overthrow the Jordanian government. The leader of the organization fled first to Afghanistan and later to Iraq. In 2004 he swore allegiance to Osama bin Laden and from then on called his organization “Al-Qaeda in Iraq”.
