The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, submits this Wednesday to the examination of the Congress groups in the first Plenary of control to the Executive of the new political course, hours before going to Barcelona to participate in the second meeting of the dialogue table on Catalonia.
The suspension of the expansion of the Barcelona-El Prat Airport, the rise in the price of electricity or the false complaint of homophobic aggression in the Madrid neighborhood of Malasaña are other issues that mark the session.
But the highlight has been the dialogue table, in which the PP has questioned the Government to give an account of the agenda and content of what it calls “table of self-determination.”
On the other side, the ERC spokesman in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has issued a warning to Sánchez: “If the dialogue table fails and disappoints, it does not fail and only the independence movement disappoints. Also the Spanish left, and Vox and PP they will enter Moncloa “.
First session of the course
Pedro Sánchez has submitted to the opposition’s questions for the first time in two months. Pablo Casado, in his initial speech, has used irony to welcome Sánchez to Congress after 80 days of absence, he has accused him of not telling the truth or the doctor, of blocking the choice of judges and of “electrocuting” the electricity bill.
He has also accused him of “sitting down” with the Catalan parties to “agree on the referendum.” “It is the table of infamy for independence,” said the leader of the PP on the dialogue table that meets this afternoon. Casado has accused Sánchez of being the “president of a failed government, the most radical in Europe.” “When do you plan to solve the problems instead of aggravating them?”, He told the chief executive.
Meeting in Barcelona
The Government and the Generalitat of Catalonia held this Wednesday in Barcelona a new meeting of the so-called dialogue table in which they will resume contacts to channel what they called ‘political conflict’.
On the one hand, there will be the delegation led by the president of the central Executive, Pedro Sánchez, and, on the other, that of the regional cabinet headed by the president of the Catalan Generalitat, Pere Aragonès.
The best of attitudes
In his appearance this Tuesday in the Senate, Sánchez has indicated that he goes “with the best of attitudes” to the table with the Government, although he asked that “we do not set deadlines, much less two years”, because what has happened in the last 10 years, we are not going to solve it in two or three or four years ”and the dialogue will be“ long ”.
These two governments are meeting again after more than a year and a half, since the first and only meeting of the dialogue table was held on February 26, 2020, at the Palacio de la Moncloa.
