PSD makes a new complaint to the CNE: letters distributed by the Porto Chamber give visibility to Rui Moreira

The Porto Social Democratic Party once again filed a complaint with the National Election Commission against Rui Moreira alleging that the Porto City Council is using its own means to give visibility to the mayor.

After accusations of plagiarism on posters, use of institutional emails and the use of Facebook Book Fair to promote the mayor, the PSD now accuses Rui Moreira’s independent movement of “distributing letters with clearly propagandist content, clearly violating the duty of neutrality and impartiality to which public entities are subject”

The party said that the municipality of Porto began a distribution of letters throughout the city, addressed to “dear fathers, mothers and guardians”, where the Municipality’s action in matters of educational policy was advertised.

A source from the party that supports Vladimiro Feliz in the upcoming elections on September 26th, maintains that the letters are filled with adjectives “very positive about the performance of the municipality” and gives an example of an excerpt from one of those letters: “we continue the mission in construction of a city friendly to children, young people and families, with dynamic and creative schools, capable of promoting social cohesion and the ideals of an educating city”.

“The signature of the President of the Chamber is also prominently introduced, as well as that of Councilor Fernando Paulo, both re-candidates on the lists of the Rui Moreira Movement, and means of the Municipality are being used to give visibility to one of the candidates in the next municipal elections “complains the party in a note released to the media.
