It is understood that James Harper was not involved but was injured after the men traded punches at the Tup Tup Palace in the city center.

Charlie Wiggett’s summer signing is said to be one of the players with facial injuries.

Now The Sun reports that those involved have been reminded of their responsibilities by the club after receiving a harsh word from Harper.

Police have not been called into the incident, but the Magpies have reportedly launched an internal investigation after Harper learned of it.

The former goalkeeper is a Newcastle legend after 20 years at the club and recently took over the main academy role after Joe Joyce left this summer.

Trouble off the pitch is the last thing Newcastle need after a dreadful start to the Premier League season and increasing pressure on manager Steve Bruce.

The U23s are also going through a rough patch, currently without a head coach after Chris Hogg left for MK Dons and Gary Caldwell only spent three weeks as interim boss.
