American journalist Ariel Helwani revealed the plans of the mixed martial arts (MMA) influencers who intend to organize a new league in the United States and Canada. He told about this on his website.
Helvani cites several sources. He says there will soon be a league in MMA that will follow the model of major North American sports organizations such as the National Hockey League (NHL) or the National Basketball Association (NBA).
The new project includes an athlete association, guaranteed contracts for fighters, and health insurance and retirement benefits for those who retire. The new organization should begin work as early as 2023.
As Helvani emphasizes, the emergence of a new league, which will not act on the basis of promotion, is a response to the dissatisfaction of athletes, including in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Its head Dana White has been criticized more than once for the low fees of the fighters.
