FOOTBALL – Sometimes Cristiano Ronaldo can’t find the net, and at that point it’s best not to be on the path of the ball. Yet this is the misfortune experienced by a steward at the Wankdorf stadium in Bern on Tuesday, September 14, during the Champions League match between Manchester United and Young Boys, won after extra time by the Swiss.
As you can see from the pictures below, the unfortunate girl found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time during the warm-up. Back to the lawn, she inadvertently received one of the Portuguese footballer’s strikes in the head, knocking her out instantly. Concerned about her state of health, the five-time Ballon d’Or quickly joined her, even offering her his jersey at the end of the match to apologize.
Despite the unexpected defeat of Manchester United, weighed down by the expulsion of Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the first period, all is not to throw for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese, author of the one and only goal of the Mancuniens during the meeting (his first in the Champions League under the jersey of the Red Devils since 2009), displays a very encouraging level since his return to the fold, with three goals in two matches.
This Tuesday, playing his 177th meeting in the most prestigious of club competitions, he also equaled the mark of Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas, record holder since 2017. Already top scorer in the history of the competition with 136 goals, the Portuguese is therefore very close to becoming the most capped player.
