Even with the delay in setting the auction date for the 5G, the Minister of Communications, Fabio Faria, is confident that the notice will be published next week. He guaranteed that by July 2022 the 5th generation internet will be available in all Brazilian capitals. The goal is to benefit 40 million people who are currently not connected. According to the minister, all locations with more than 600,000 inhabitants will have access to 5G, and in smaller cities the government will make available a new program, “Wi-Fi Brazil”. The minister asked the National Telecommunications Agency to hurry (Anatel), since, according to him, there is no time to lose. “Each lost day of the auction is R$ 100 million less that Brazil does not earn, not to mention the deliveries we have and those people who are isolated from the real world, isolated from the digital world, isolated from social inclusion, That’s why the importance that we have in this matter”, he said. The Minister of Communications stressed that 5G will be important to bring the internet to Brazilian schools, even in those places with difficult access, and to guarantee an increase in the productive sector, such as agribusiness, for example. “With the 5G auction, we will cover the entire agribusiness, because 4G has connected people and 5G will connect the entire industry and the entire production chain. So, agro will be heavily contemplated with 5G,” he said.
