Frankfurt – Wednesday, September 15, 2021, 2:25 p.m.
Oliver Glasner is not allowed to sit in Eintracht Frankfurt’s coaching bench at the Europa League opener against Fenerbahce on Thursday.
After arriving at the stadium, he will “retire to a box,” said Glasner, who was banned from a game, at the press conference on Wednesday. “I’m very excited to see how I feel about it. I’ve never had the situation and hope I never have it again. It’s a new experience for me too.”
“I can see myself right there, even if I can’t sit on the bench,” explains the former LASK trainer. The 47-year-old was suspended for an offense at his ex-club VfL Wolfsburg when he and the team came back too late after half-time in three European Cup games.
Assistant coaches Michael Angerschmid and Ronald Brunmayr are now responsible for the club in the game against the Turks. Glasner has “complete confidence” in the duo, he emphasizes. “The players are the most important protagonists. They should and will judge it.”
