Fear of discrimination, hunger and thirst, people in Binh Duong refuse to be discharged from the hospital

BINH DUONG, Vietnam (NV) – Afraid of being stigmatized and hungry when returning home after being cured of COVID-19, many people refused to leave the hospital. Meanwhile, some people who are afraid of being infected have falsely claimed to be vaccinated enough.

On the evening of September 15, explaining to Thanh Nien newspaper about many cases of COVID-19 patients refusing to be discharged, Nguyen Hong Chuong, director of Binh Duong Department of Health, admitted at some field hospitals in Binh Duong. “There is a backlog of dozens of F0s who are eligible to go home, but refuse to be discharged when the hospital asks.”

According to Mr. Chuong, “the reason is that some F0 cases when they are discharged from the hospital back to their place of residence or the hostel are discriminated against so they don’t want to return. Meanwhile, F0 in the hospital is given food and drink, living conditions are better than in hostels or at home, which leads to this situation.”

Earlier on the evening of September 14, the leader of the Medical Center of Tan Uyen Town, Binh Duong Province, asked the Health Station of Tan Phuoc Khanh Ward to investigate a 31-year-old man, living in Thai Hoa Ward, suspected of making false statements to received the second dose of Pfizer vaccine due to fear of infection.

According to Thanh Nien newspaper, he received the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine on August 5, and has a certificate from the Health Center of Tan Uyen town. However, on September 14, he suddenly “showed off” another certificate confirming that he had received the first dose of the US Pfizer vaccine issued by the Tan Phuoc Khanh ward Health station.

The leader of the Tan Uyen Town Medical Center confirmed that this was a case of “false declaration to receive the second dose of Pfizer vaccine,” because the person who received the COVID-19 vaccine was only issued a certificate, which contained the following information: full information on vaccination date, so it is not possible to issue two certificates to the same person, both of them are vaccinated for the first time.

The representative of the Tan Phuoc Khanh ward Health station also said that the above case “was not eligible for vaccination in Tan Phuoc Khanh ward, but due to dishonest declaration, he was injected and issued a certificate for the first injection.”

Also according to a representative of this ward health station, on September 14, the station only received 522 doses of Pfizer vaccine to vaccinate people in the ward who “have not received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and have not used it for the second dose.” .”

According to the regulations of the Binh Duong Department of Health, the Pfizer vaccine is only used for the elderly, pregnant and lactating women, and people with underlying medical conditions. And recently the department is “considering to give a shot to the person who got the first shot but there is no vaccine of the same type to give the second shot.”

As of the evening of September 15, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam recorded an additional 10,585 new cases of COVID-19 in 34 provinces and cities. Of which, Binh Duong alone accounted for 3,228 cases, an increase of 1,050 cases compared to the previous day, bringing the total number of infections to 166,075 cases, only after Saigon. (Tr.N)
