European Union approves Panama's Digital Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate

“The Certificate may be used in the 27 member states of the European Union. Likewise, Panama will proceed with the recognition of the vaccination certificate issued by the European Union and its member countries, “said a press release from the Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Relations.

The EU, the official document explained, “recently presented a procedure by which third countries could participate in a procedure, by invitation, in which Panama was included, so that their certificates of COVID-19 vaccination were with the same validity as the certificate issued by the EU to allow mobility through its member countries “.

“We are the first country in the region that has this endorsement, allowing our vaccinated citizens and residents, with a complete vaccination scheme, to have the peace of mind of resuming their trips to Europe with the facilities offered by technology,” said the Panamanian Foreign Minister, Erika Mouynes.

The Foreign Ministry indicated that nationals or residents of Panama that “they have a vaccination certificate duly issued by the Government Innovation Authority (AIG), having complied with their complete vaccination scheme, they will be able to present it to travel to the member countries of the European Union, and it will be recognized as equivalent”.

“This joint work of the Chancellery, with the Government Innovation Authority and the team of the Ministry of Health It responds to the efforts of this Administration to maintain the standards that the country has established for the safeguarding of our citizens, “the official statement added.

Panama, a country of 4.28 million inhabitants, has already vaccinated 50% of the target people with the two doses, said last week the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, who stressed that this represents “a breakthrough in Operation PanavaC-19, with a view to achieving community immunity by the end of the year 2021 “.
