Despite the withdrawal of the United States’ armed forces from Afghanistan, US crimes there – such as the killing of civilians by the US Army and its allies – need to be thoroughly investigated. This is what Jiang Duan, a diplomat from the Chinese mission to the United Nations, called for, like the Chinese broadcaster CGTN reported. The Chinese diplomat also called for those involved in the alleged crimes to be punished.

Jiang made these demands in a statement by a group of states on the second day of the 48th session of the UN Human Rights Council. According to the statement, wars waged by the United States caused “enormous” casualties among civilians and forced many people to flee.
“The drastic change in Afghanistan shows once again that military intervention and power politics find no support.”
Trying to force a US-style democracy on others will only lead to chaos and turmoil and is doomed to failure.
In the declaration, the participating states also express their concern about long-standing human rights problems in the United States itself. They called on the Human Rights Council and the High Commissioner for Human Rights to address this imbalance.
The declaration criticizes:
“In disregard of the right to life and the right to health of the population, the US, despite having the most advanced medical equipment and technology, has the most COVID-19 cases and deaths in the world.”
Media report: USA killed NGO workers instead of terrorists in vehicle attack in Kabul
Instead of focusing on fighting the corona pandemic with all its might, the US government is obsessed with political manipulation regarding issues such as the origin of the coronavirus. Washington intends to shift the blame on to other states and shirk responsibility for its own failures.
The statement points out that systematic racism and racial discrimination have long existed in the United States and continue to do so. Afro-Americans, US citizens with Asian backgrounds, Muslims and members of other minority groups continue to face discrimination and abuse.
