CEP survey: Gabriel Boric and Sebastián Sichel lead La Moneda race although with 50% undecided

This morning the results of the last CEP survey, carried out between July 25 and September 1, were delivered.

The results were announced by Carmen Le Foulon, coordinator of the CEP’s Public Opinion Area, who specified that the comparison of the results of this survey would be made based on the last face-to-face sample, in December 2019.

Regarding the item “political and economic perceptions”, one of the main problems to which the Government should devote more effort, highlights the significant increase in crime with 42% (previous sample was 26%), followed by pensions with 41% (the previous sample was 61%) and health with 38%.

Another aspect to highlight is that, according to the study, the positive perception regarding the personal economic situation and the country increases. Likewise, the majority (60%) think that the country is “stagnant.”

Regarding trust in institutions, they lead the ranking universities with 47%, followed by radios with 38%, the PDI with 36% and the Armed Forces with 30%. At the other end are lpolitical parties with 4%, followed by Congress with 8% and the Government with 11%.

About the constituent process 61% of those surveyed declare in favor of the conventionalists favoring agreements and 26% are in favor of putting their positions ahead even if it means not reaching agreements.

Likewise, 49% indicate that the new Constitution will probably help solve problems, while 15% indicate that the current situation will probably worsen.

Regarding the next presidential elections, faced with the open question of Who would you like to be the next President of the Republic? 13% supported Gabriel Boric’s option, while a 11% did it for Sebastián Sichel and 6% for Yasna Provoste.

Below are Daniel Jadue with 3%; José Antonio Kast with 3% and Pamela Jiles and Franco Parisi with 2%.

However, one of the most relevant elements of this question is that 50% of the respondents refrained from giving an answer.

On the other hand, when asked who do you think will be the next President of Chile? Gabriel Boric leads with 25%, followed by Sebastián Sichel with 18%, Yasna Provoste 10% and José Antonio Kast with 2%.

Finally, in relation to the Government’s evaluation, 16% approve (the last sample was 6%); 68% disapprove and 14% neither approve nor disapprove.
